SBP is a global supplier of flexible packaging solutions for food, beverage, pet, home and personal care industries. Its clients include Walmart, Varun Beverages, Big Basket, Ebro, C&H Industrial, Unicharm, Johnson and Johnson, Bisleri, Dabur, Unilever, ITC, Kimberly Clark to name a few.
While SBP was supplying packaging to its customers, it was exactly in packaging that it was facing a problem. SBP’s problem was that it had uneducated workforce that was packaging production in to boxes for shipment to its customers. At the time of packaging, SBP was to make sure that the number of pieces of product in a box is as per customer specifications and that the workforce needed to be guided to use a specific set of packaging when the production was complete so packaging could start.
InfoCRAFT delivered a technology solution using Bar Coded IDs that went on the Package Boxes. Each Box was coded to a Customer Specification which in turn was mapped to Customer items. Once the production was ready, the Item was scanned to identify the box and the specification required. This included the number of product pieces to be packed in the box. After the product was placed in the packaging, the inline weighing scale used to measure the box weight with the ideal weight on record (+/- tolerance) and was coupled instrumentally with a 2 color lamp indicating if the box was packaged with the right number of product pieces.
